Welcome to the 12 Powers for Our Planet Initiative
The Unity Worldwide EarthCare ministry’s mission is to foster awareness of our spiritual oneness with the Earth, to promote active care of all creation, and to assist congregations in integrating an Earth-oriented spirituality into their ministries. By empowering Unity ministries, the EarthCare movement envisions Unity Worldwide Ministries as a powerful force and global leader in addressing the climate change emergency and moving society towards environmental justice in order to create a world that works for all beings. Overview
EarthCare is implementing a new strategic initiative — “12 Powers for Our Planet” — that empowers ministers and individuals with ready access to useful, compelling, inspirational information and resources.
This will be a year-long initiative that will provide educational materials and concrete action items individuals and congregations can take to become better stewards of Creation. Each month will focus on one of Unity’s 12 Powers and how it relates to caring for our Earth. Resources provided will include materials that ministers can use to deliver a Sunday message which includes factual, non-political information about the issue being discussed, and specific practical actions that can be adopted. Specific, strategic actions will be provided that can help in creating a world that works for all beings.
Each of the 12 Powers — Faith, Strength, Wisdom, Love, Power, Imagination, Understanding, Will, Order, Zeal, Release, Life — anchor powerful spiritual truths and practices and each has relevance to our evolving relationship with all of Creation.
The 12 Powers concept and body of teaching was originally created by Charles & Myrtle Fillmore and he associated a disciple and region of the body with each of the powers. We do not necessarily incorporate these aspects into the Unity 12 Powers and Earth materials but we do reference them in each module.
Rev. Diane Scribner has developed a useful, creative mnemonic to remember the 12 Powers. It is, “Faith W.I.L.L. P.O.W.E.R. U.S.”:

Unit Focus: The Unity spiritual power of Faith empowers us to stand firm in our spiritual conviction and maintain belief in the possibility of good to come through all circumstances. Spiritual Faith is not blind, but rather is informed by our direct experiences of spiritual truth. We can exercise faith in knowing that nature is resilient and can heal in magnificent ways. We can exercise faith in holding space for humanity to evolve a healthier, more loving relationship with the Earth and all the creatures who live upon it. In this module, we focus on the spiritual Power of Faith and how it relates to and is enhanced by nature and EarthCare.
Unit Focus: The Unity spiritual power of Love is the idea of universal unity. In expression, it is the power that joins and binds together the universe and everything in it. Many of us feel love for the magnificence of nature and creation. In this module we focus on the spiritual Power of Love and how it relates to and is enhanced by nature and Earthcare.
Unit Focus: As a spiritual principle that is infinitely active in and through all creation, the Unity spiritual power of Strength is the divine idea of enduring integrity. Greater than ‘muscling’ through challenges, more than dogged persistence, Divine Strength is the divine design to endure as the integrity of Oneness and interdependence.
Unit Focus: Our natural world may at times feel out of control -- not just the actions of humans which impact us personally, but the seasons, the weather, and the weeds that continue to grow in our gardens. The Unity spiritual power of Wisdom helps us reconnect with Earth’s rhythms, bounty, and intelligence. In this module, we focus on the spiritual Power of Wisdom and how it relates to and is enhanced by nature and EarthCare.
Unit Focus: The Unity spiritual power of Power is all about achieving mastery of ourselves to transform our lives and our world. We are at a point in human evolution in which we need to tap into the power to do what is necessary to restore the Earth and create a sustainable living for generations to come. In this module we focus on the spiritusl power of power and how it relates to and is enhanced by nature and Earthcare. Our magnificent planet is a wonderful demonstration of, and classroom for experiencing Divine Power.
Unit Focus: The Unity spiritual power of Imagination involves tapping into our creative capacity, aligned with positive vision and faith, to imagine a life and a world that is vital, healthy, and life-affirming. Allowing our minds to harmonize with Divine Mind we co-create and co-evolve a world that works for all life. In this module, we focus on the spiritual Power of Imagination and how it relates to and is enhanced by nature and EarthCare.
Unit Focus: The Unity spiritual power of Understanding is the ability of the mind to comprehend and realize the laws of thought and the relation of ideas to one another. It involves being able to make sense of facts, knowledge and ideas and allow insight to shape knowledge. In this module, we focus on the spiritual power of Understanding and how it relates to and is enhanced by nature and EarthCare.
Unit Focus: The Unity spiritual power of Will is our executive capacity, our ability to get things done. It involves choice, resolve, and willingness to release willfulness and resistance. In this module, we focus on the spiritual Power of Will and how it relates to and is enhanced by nature and EarthCare.
Unit Focus: The Unity spiritual power of Order involves aligning ourselves with Divine Mind so as to bring greater flow and peace into our affairs and our world. Divine Order is an ever-ready supply even when dealing with challenging events and circumstances such as climate change, species loss and plastic pollution. In this module, we focus on the spiritual Power of Order and how it relates to, and can be enhanced by nature and EarthCare.
Unit Focus: The Unity spiritual power of Zeal is our Divine design and power to save us from apathy. As we grow from the light of our awareness of God as Source we are invigorated with ideas and enthusiasm to persist through what appears as failures. Zeal moves us, glittering through our mind, body and spirit as power designed and working for a divine purpose: life, flourishing life. The natural world is abundant with exuberant demonstrations of zeal and aliveness.
Unit Focus: The Unity spiritual power of Release is about letting go of that which no longer serves us, or prevents us from living our fullest, most empowered lives. It’s also about releasing some of the collective practices, behaviors, and mindsets that harm one another and our planet. Nature demonstrates many powerful and profound examples of the expansive, regenerative power of release. By harnessing the power of Release we free ourselves from bonds.
Unit Focus: The Unity spiritual power of Life is about vitality, regeneration, creation, and it is magnificently displayed in Nature and the totality of Creation. In this module we focus on the spiritual Power of Life and how it relates to and is enhanced by nature and Earthcare.
