System Requirements for UWSI Online Courses
Please use the following minimum hardware and software requirements that are necessary to access an online class through UWSI's Blackboard online learning system. Individual instructors may have additional requirements for specific courses. If needed, check your course syllabus and discuss technology needs or challenges with your instructor as early in the course as possible
System/Browser, Plugins and Players Requirements
Windows Vista, 7 or 8
Windows 7, 8 or 10
Computer should be less than 4 years old.
1 GHz processor
2 GHz or faster processor
512 MB of RAM
2 GB of RAM or higher
1024 x 768
1024 x 768 or higher
Free Hard Disk Space
5 GB of free disk space
20 GB or higher of free space
Broadband (high-speed) Internet connection with a consistent minimum speed of 1.5 Mbps.
Broadband (high-speed) Internet connection with a speed of 4 Mbps or higher
Google Chrome or Firefox
Java is required to use Blackboard. Download Java.
Students are required to have regular, reliable access to a computer with a stable broadband Internet connection. Computer must have access to a microphone (headsets work well) and a camera, if possible. Any system older than 4 years may not have the processing power to work with the current version of Blackboad and it components.
If your computer is publicly accessed (like in a library) you may be prohibited from downloading files or software.
Mobile Devices: For mobile devices, please visit the Blackboard Mobile App webpage to download the app for Android and Apple mobile devices.
