Description
Have you been asked to define a word and you answer by saying I can’t really say what it is but I know when I see what it isn’t? Inclusivity is this type of word…inclusion is largely invisible. It is easier to notice experiences of exclusion. There is a great emphasis on diversity however the focus on inclusion creates a greater understanding and respect the differences between people and does not try to group everyone into one group

Inclusivity training promotes delivery of culturally and compassionate treatment with dignity and respect, where everyone feels welcome and represented.

During this webinar participants can expect to:
  • Define Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Explore the differences between exclusion, inclusion and belonging
  • Learn approaches to fostering inclusive environments that lead to belonging

Description
The past few months have issued a call for an awakening about racial injustice. This is a spiritual call for all of us, a call to look honestly at the world we have created and to take ownership of the systemic patterns that create daily injustices for people of color.  It is a call to join together, make different choices, and to come together to create the “beloved community.”  Debby Irving’s book, “Waking Up White” explores her personal journey of waking up and seeing the world around her through new eyes, and taking action to heal the suffering created by systemic racism.  We invite you to join us in an exploration of this book and to partner with us in co-creating a world embodied by love and respect for all.

Description
Our Sunday morning youth ministry programs are designed using Unity’s A Living Curriculum philosophy, which seeks to draw the lesson from the learner through experiences, stories and creative expression. During this time of social distancing and virtual meetings, we have many new experiences to draw from. This training will explore how to create lessons that engage those attending an onsite and/or an online YFM program.

The vision of A Living Curriculum is to empower children and youth to use their spiritual wisdom to fulfill their soul’s purpose; to empower parents to see themselves as the prime spiritual educators of their children and youth; to empower facilitators to see education as a process, through which they effectively support the unfolding of the child’s spiritual nature and model the living of the spiritual principles; to empower a spiritual community to function with unity in diversity; to inspire a world educational community by its philosophy, process, programs and products.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
Explain how to construct a lesson plan based on the Living Curriculum philosophy
Identify stages of age and faith development
Establish the importance of the Sacred Circle
Identify their most preferred and least preferred Multiple Intelligence
Construct a hybrid YFM lesson plan

Description

Suicide is a problem worldwide.   According to Living Works a recognized leader in suicide research and prevention training, "at any given time, 1 in 25 people is thinking about suicide to some degree" and "more than 800,000 people die by suicide worldwide each year" (Living Works).  Let’s talk about this!

Each of us can play an integral role in suicide prevention.  As spiritual leaders, we are uniquely situated to have a crucial impact on reducing stigma, increasing awareness and assisting those contemplating suicide or affected by suicide.  By our messaging, openness and taking action we can affirm the brightness of life and bring support to many within our spiritual communities.

In this workshop, we will discuss suicide rates in the United States and worldwide and specific factors affecting those rates.  As well, we will talk about risk factors, common signs and symptoms and helpful resources that can be used to broaden our knowledge base.  Through this workshop, attendees will learn how to make a difference in suicide prevention through abilities that they already have and learn simple approaches that they and their spiritual communities can implement to focus on taking action.
