Forming a Spiritual Action Team Within Your Ministry  (Webinar 1.5 CEUs)

Instructors: Rev. Leona Evans and Matthew Evans

Live Collaborate Sessions: Thursday, September 23 from 3:00 to 4:30 pm Central

Credit: 1.5 CEUs

Description: Recently, we have seen an increasing interest among Unity leaders to combine our spiritual principles with nonviolent social action. The most important question is, how to begin organizing and implementing a program that meets the needs of our spiritual communities and stays within the legal boundaries of our not-for-profit status. One of the most effective ways to address these issues is to form a spiritual action team.

This webinar discusses:
• How a spiritual action team can benefit our ministries and enhance our relevance in the community.
• How to operate within the framework of our not-for-profit guidelines as established by the IRS.
• How to establish a history of advocacy.
• Examples of different models of community engagement.

Managing Congregations in a Virtual Age  (Webinar 1.5 CEUs)

Live Collaborate Sessions: Tuesday, October 12 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm Central

Credit: 1.5 CEUs

Description: John Wimberly, an in-demand congregational consultant who worked closely with UWM as it crafted its new strategic plan, will discuss his latest book: Managing Congregations in a Virtual Age.  In the book John discusses the movement toward “virtual ministry” that started before the pandemic, moved to warp speed during the pandemic and will shape ministry for the foreseeable future.  He stresses that what congregations do (worship, educate, mission, spiritual growth, etc.) isn’t changing as much as how they do it. Wimberly interviewed clergy across the nation to get their take on the changes they and their congregations are experiencing as things such as life-stream worship, zoom meetings, virtual classes, etc. become standard operating procedure.

Embrace both the spirit and the letter of the law as it pertains to UWM’s Code of Ethics.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of ethics and its importance in Unity ministry.
