Just Who and What Are Unity's Alternative Ministries?

Our alternative ministries provide a unique and valuable service to Unity!

Alternative ministries provide education, enrichment and expansion of Truth teachings in settings that are different from “church” experiences. They strengthen Unity communities and positively impact their presence in the larger geographic area. They reach out to people who are outside a Unity community in ways that open a connection with Truth and Unity that may have more appeal and meaning than a “church” experience.

 

Resources for Alternative Ministry

On the right is a link to the Alternative Ministry Manual, which will help you in the incorporation process and in the preparation of bylaws. Incorporation is a requirement for affiliation with Unity Worldwide Ministries and to be covered by the Association's tax-exempt umbrella.

  • At least 50 percent of the leadership (day-to-day management) must be a Unity minister(s).
  • The dissolution clause must list the Association as the recipient of any funds remaining after dissolution.
  • Affiliation with the Association must be specified.
  • A method of continuation of the business of the alternative ministry in the event of death or inability of the minister to function must be specified.

 

Once you have incorporated in the State and have established bylaws, please send a copy of the incorporation and bylaws to Joann Landreth at joann@unity.org and to the Alternative Ministry Review Team: David Elliott david.rev4unity@gmail.com and Diane Sickler dmsickler@aol.com.

Also send a letter of recommendation from your regional representative and signed copies of the Code of Ethics and the Sexual Conduct Policy to Joann Landreth and the Alternative Ministry Team.

Once the Alternative Ministry Team has approved the documentation of your alternative ministry, a recommendation for approval will be given to Unity Worldwide Ministries' Board of Trustees at its next scheduled meeting.
